Frequently Asked Questions

Before Your Session

What should I wear to my appointment?

It depends on the modality you are receiving:

  • For Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, and Cupping Therapy: You will undress to your comfort level in the private treatment room. You are always securely draped with sheets and blankets throughout your treatment; only the area being actively worked on is exposed.

  • For Soft Tissue Release & Stretch Therapy (SRT) and CranioSacral Therapy (CST:) SRT and CST are performed fully clothed. Please wear comfortable, flexible clothing that allows for easy movement—such as yoga pants, leggings, sweatpants, or athletic shorts with a comfortable top.

Should I refrain from eating or drinking before my session?

A light meal or snack an hour or two before your session is fine, but avoid heavy meals right before lying down. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is always recommended to ensure your tissues are well-hydrated.

Techniques & What to Expect

Will cupping therapy leave marks on my skin, and do they hurt?

Cupping uses negative pressure suction to pull stagnant fluid and cellular metabolic waste to the surface so fresh, oxygenated blood can flow in. This process can leave circular discoloration ranging from light pink to deep purple. These marks are not bruises—they are generally completely painless and typically fade within a few days to a week. Suction levels are always tailored to your comfort.

I’ve heard massage needs to be painful to be effective. Is that true?

Not at all. In fact, aggressive or painful pressure often causes your central nervous system to perceive a threat, triggering a protective reflex where muscles guard and tighten further. My practice centers on working with your nervous system rather than fighting it. By keeping you relaxed and out of pain, tissues are allowed to release naturally, yielding deeper, longer-lasting relief without post-session soreness.

Can I receive CranioSacral, Lymphatic Drainage, SRT, or Cupping Therapy as a standalone session?

Yes! While I often integrate these techniques into a customized massage session, every modality is fully available as a dedicated, single-focus treatment tailored entirely to that specific practice.
